The European-based Satamatics Ltd. has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission to provide satellite-based telematics services in the U.S. Using the Inmarsat D+ satellite network, Satamatics-Americas says it will partner with ASPs (application service providers) to offer Internet-based asset tracking, tracing and monitoring services over its real-time data communications system.

The company's new North American operations are headquartered in Ocala, FL.
