Featured in each course are best practices and highest management standards geared to private fleet professionals, allowing them to navigate through the curriculum at their own pace. BEST PRACTICES SAFETY GUIDE
In the first six months of its existence, NPTC's Best Practices Safety Guide® is helping deliver improved safety performance to dozens of America's leading private fleets. The Guide is an on-line benchmarking management tool which provides companies with a snapshot of how they “stack up” in six areas of safety performance: Leadership/Management; the Driver; Maintenance; Event Management; Culture; and Evaluation/Assessment/ Measurement. Companies can compare their scores with the averages of all participating NPTC Fleet members. Customized feedback provides participants with recommended best practices to aid improvement. The Guide is sponsored by ACS/Pre-Pass with technical and software support from Zurich Insurance and Interactive Driving Systems, in collaboration with the NPTC Safety Committee. CTP CLASS OF 2005
Candidates for the Certified Transportation Professional® (CTP) program are now registering to become members of the Class of 2005. Since the CTP® credential was first introduced in 1993, more than 400 fleet/transportation professionals have earned the right to add CTP after their names. In the past three years, 92% of CTP's have retained their certification membership and earned credits toward recertification. This statistic alone is a great testimony to the CTP's value. CTP's are raising industry standards and increasing the respect and prestige of the fleet/ transportation profession. The CTP designation is a benchmark of excellence available to fleet and supplier professionals with the experience, dedication and commitment to meet the highest standards of the industry. FIVE-STAR MEMBERSHIP SUPPORT INCREASES
More NPTC member companies are becoming FIVE STAR MEMBERS of the Council. These Fleet and Allied members, in addition to their regular dues, contribute $5,000 annually to the NPTC Institute to help fund development of new private fleet training and educational services. The NPTC Institute is the tax-exempt, non-profit education and research affiliate of the National Private Truck Council. NPTC LEGISLATIVE/REGULATORY NEWS
The NPTC Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Committee assists the NPTC Board of Directors and staff in the evaluation of policy matters, and in the development of official NPTC policy as it relates to legislative and regulatory issues. In carrying out its responsibilities, the committee holds monthly teleconference briefings - open to all members - on the latest issues affecting private fleet operations. FLEET MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE - JANUARY, 2005
NPTC has scheduled its annual Fleet Management Institute, a concentrated, in-depth and comprehensive five-day learning experience for fleet professionals, January 15 to 19, 2005 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis, MO. The Institute received “highest ratings” from participants in 2004.
The Institute offers nearly 50 hours of instruction on Fleet Finance, Operations, Legal, Regulatory and Safety Compliance, Human Resources, Maintenance and Equipment. The program reflects the most current insights into best practices, benchmarking and operational excellence and is presented by the industry's top private fleet management experts through a series of workshops, panel discussions, lectures and interactive formats.
Specific sessions will focus on strategic and tactical planning, justifying the private fleet, effective communications, leadership skills, private fleet financial models, financial reporting in today's more transparent business environment, economic value added, lease vs. buy, key performance measures, transportation alternatives, outsourced maintenance, optimization, life cycle costing, technology, scrap tire analysis, safety improvement strategies, accident investigation, a vehicle walk-around inspection, and human resource management strategies, including hiring, development and discipline.
