Global 2-Way says it has signed up 50 fleet customers for the Global T-Fleet System, a combination of VHF and UHF radio networks that provide commercial two-way communications and tracking. Aimed at small to mid-sized fleets, the service offers low-cost messaging and vehicle tracking throughout the U.S.
Contract carrier R&R Transportation will equip its entire fleet of 65 refrigerated trailers with StarTrak's Reefer Trak Commander, a two-way command and control wireless data service. StarTrak operates over Vistar's GlobalWave satellite data communications network.
Contract Freighters Inc. (CFI) has agreed to equip all 2,400 tractors in its fleet with Aether MobileMax wireless data systems by the end of the year. CFI plans to use the multi-mode satellite and land-based system with Aether's Proximity Alert service to automatically update dispatchers with arrival and departure information.
Truckload carriers Prime Inc. and P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc. have signed agreements to begin using the Transflo Express truckstop scanning service from Pegasus TransTech. The service uses fuel desk attendants at participating truckstops to scan documents for drivers, electronically delivering information for immediate billing and payroll processing.
