The company, which expects to begin commercial service later this year, says the news will come directly from DOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. says it has sold its 100,000th RoadRelay onboard computer. The latest version, RoadRelay 4, is an in- or on-dash mounted unit with a 4-line display that can be used with most electronically controlled diesel engines, including those made by other engine manufacturers. www.cummins.com

A system for pooling LTL shipments is one of the new features of eBusiness, an online suite of logistics planning tools from ABF Freight System Inc. (www.abf.com). The upgrade also includes shipper access to historical reports to help them examine shipping patterns by location, customer, month or year, and trend analysis tools.

Developed jointly by the National Grocers Assn. (NGA), Food Distributors International (FDI) and AmeriQuest, www.foodfleetxchange.com offers retail grocers and wholesalers and their suppliers a new online buying service for fleet equipment and supplies. The new exchange provides volume pricing on tires, lubricants, batteries, brakes, engines, transmissions, tools, truck bodies, shop tools and other fleet equipment while allowing fleets to maintain current relationships with both local and national vendors.

TruckMate for Windows Version 5.0 adds a Web interface that allows online load offering and bill tracing, integrated fuel tax report, and a number of other new features, according to developer Maddocks Systems Inc. (www.maddocks.ca). TruckMate is a client server system that can be used with AS400, RS6000 and Windows NT platforms.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has signed a two-year extension of its agreement with @Track Communications (www.at-track.com) to provide mobile communications services for its large private fleet. @Track's wireless services include two-way voice and data communications, vehicle tracking and fleet management applications.
