Oil for EGR engines

Castrol Heavy Duty Lubricants has introduced a new line of diesel engine oils designed to meet the needs of new Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) engines as well as help improve performance of older diesel engine models. Castrol, based in Baltimore, MD, said its Enduron S and Tection Extra meet API's CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4 and SL engine oil specifications, as well as Cummins' CES 20078, 20076 and Mack's

Castrol Heavy Duty Lubricants has introduced a new line of diesel engine oils designed to meet the needs of new Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) engines as well as help improve performance of older diesel engine models.

Castrol, based in Baltimore, MD, said its Enduron S and Tection Extra meet API's CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4 and SL engine oil specifications, as well as Cummins' CES 20078, 20076 and Mack's EO-M requirements. Castrol's Tection S meets oil specifications for current diesel engine and API's CI-4.

Enduron S is the premium product in Castrol's new engine oil line. Based on a synthetic blend base stock, it is designed to produce low levels of ash, has higher detergent properties to neutralize higher acid levels in EGR engines and will not compromise performance if it's used in older diesel engines.

Using hydrocracked petroleum based stock, Tection Extra has almost the same performance characteristics as Enduron S except for the synthetic blend's higher level of viscosity control. Castrol says Tection S provides the higher soot-level control needed for EGR engines and still offers compatibility with older engines.
