Former senior vp-Service and Parts for Freightliner LLC Chris Patterson, 45, has been promoted to Head of Business Unit Trucks NAFTA, which encompasses the Freightliner, Sterling and Thomas Built Buses brands, within the Commercial Vehicles Division of DaimlerChrysler AG, as well as president & CEO of Freightliner. He assumed the new position April 15.

Patterson, 50, replaces Rainer Schmueckle, who was promoted to COO of the Mercedes Car Group. Schmueckle will be responsible for the functional divisions of production, procurement and information technology within the car group.
