Averitt Express has announced the opening of a new distribution facility in West Atlanta, with double the amount of dock space and nearly twice as many dock doors as the company’s previous location.
Averitt’s Atlanta network now consists of three facilities in the area, joining locations in Norcross and Marietta. Combined, the three centers include 365 dock doors, nearly 150,000 square feet of dock space, 500 associates, 160 tractors and 650 trailers, the company said.
"As the seventh largest industrial market in the U.S., we recognize the role Atlanta plays in the U.S. economy and the global economy," said Kent Williams, Averitt’s regional vp for Georgia. "In terms of acreage, this new service center in Atlanta is the largest facility in our 37-year history. That really says it all when it comes to the significance of Atlanta to our customers, our associates and the future of our company."
The new facility has a total of 123 dock doors and 52,000 sq. ft. of dock space. It features a drivers' lounge, fitness center, showers, on-site fueling stations and a drive-through truck wash, the company said.
