Denis Litalien is a trucker who keeps busy helping others. He founded a successful statewide truck drivers' association in Maine and performs as many good works as possible Down East and beyond. A driver with Clifford W. Perham, out of Biddeford, ME, Litalien serves as president & executive director of the Maine Professional Drivers Assn., a group he launched more than 20 years ago to promote courtesy, safety and professionalism in the field of truck driving.

He has led the group in hauling bicycles to and from the American Lung Assn. of Maine's Trek Across Maine, which raised more than $1.9 million last year. His charity work includes organizing the Northeast Charity Challenge, which has raised more than $180,000 over the last 10 years for St. Jude's Children Hospital; serving as chairman of the Maine Trucking for Kids convoy; and serving as co-chair of the annual St. Joseph Church Christmas Fair.

For all these efforts, The National Private Truck Council awarded Litalien its Humanitarian Award during the group's recent annual conference in Cincinnati.
