Mitchell 1, a Snap-on Company, and their Tractor-Trailer.net service and repair information system will again play a key role in three upcoming state Technician Skills Competitions. According to the company, representatives from Mitchell 1 will administer the service information skills station in which each technician must compete, at the 2008 Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina state competitions.

During the national and state competitions, Tractor-Trailer.net has been used to test a diesel technician’s ability to diagnose and choose the proper corrective action to fix a variety of service-related problems on a broad range of vehicles. Using

Tractor-Trailer.net also tests a technician’s working knowledge of electronic service manuals.

Mitchell 1 is counted among the original participants when the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Assns. first organized their National Technician Skills Competition.

“State maintenance councils, as well as the national TMC, really appreciate companies such as Mitchell 1 who help us test our technicians on the challenging skills they need to maintain our increasingly sophisticated equipment,” said Mike Jeffress, vp of maintenance for Maverick Transportation and past general chairman of the Arkansas Trucking Assn. “We couldn’t put on the level of competition we do in Arkansas without their participation.”
