Con-way Inc. has announced the establishment of its Leadership Academy, a four-tiered training program designed to enhance the skills of employees company-wide.

Targeting employees at specific states in their careers, the four tiers are position fundamentals; leadership fundamentals; strategic leadership/ALPHA (advanced leadership preparation for highest achievement); and executive education.

In position fundamentals, classes and activities enhance job-related knowledge. The second level, leadership fundamentals, provides the tools necessary for front-line and middle managers to become effective leaders.

The ALPHA program is a three-year curriculum for employees who have been identified as “future senior leaders” at Con-way. The executive education segment includes workshops and symposiums for high-level executives.

“The Con-way Leadership Academy is the next stage of our investment in our most valuable asset – our people. We want to ensure that they are not only able to meet the challenges of their current positions, but are always preparing to take the next step,” said Douglas W. Stotlar, president & CEO.

Con-way Inc is a $4.2-billion freight transportation and logistics services company headquartered in San Mateo, CA; subsidiaries include Con-way Freight, Con-way Truckload Services and Menlo Worldwide.
