Dana Corp. announced today that it plans to consolidate its Heavy Vehicle Products operations in Kalamazoo, MI and Statesville, NC, into two locations in the Toledo, OH, area and a yet-to-be-determined location in Greater Detroit.
The manufacturer said this will enable it “to better align its engineering and functional support resources and promote enhanced technology sharing across its businesses.”
Some 50 employees are currently located at the Kalamazoo Heavy Vehicle Products div. office. The Statesville facility employs about 25 persons, primarily in sales and engineering functions.
Dana noted that a “portion of the impacted employees will relocate to a facility that Dana is securing in the Toledo area and others will locate to the Corporate Offices and Technology Center in Maumee, OH. Some employees will also relocate to the Detroit area. As part of the consolidation, an undetermined number of existing Heavy Vehicle Products positions will be eliminated and both original locations are expected to substantially close by the end of this year.”
The company added that more information on the consolidation will be “communicated as additional details are finalized.”
In the North American commercial-vehicle arena, Dana is partnered with Eaton Corp. via the Roadranger marketing agreement. No mention was made by Dana today as to whether the consolidation of its Heavy Vehicle Products operation would impact the Roadranger organization.
