Less-than-truckload carrier Dohrn Transfer will begin installing PeopleNet’s onboard computing and mobile communications system in January, according to the fleet.
The installations will help cut operating expense and improve customer service, Dohrn said. In addition, PerformX engine monitoring will offer real-time driver and vehicle performance information to improve mpg and safety. The company will also automate driver logs with eDriver Logs electronic onboard recording and will be integrating the system with payroll systems to speed that process and automate the fuel tax reporting process.
“PeopleNet provides us a fool-proof process for getting accurate, real-time information we want from our drivers,” said Dohrn vp Joe Dohrn. “The system we now have—software running on cell phones—is prone to error due to its limited nature, and it’s incompatible with the growing ban on texting. The more robust PeopleNet platform allows us to capture much more information electronically, which will streamline our driver-to-dispatch communications even more.”
