Former Transportation Secretary Samuel Skinner is the new non-executive chairman of third party logistics company Echo Global Logistics of Chicago, IL. He formerly served as chairman, CEO, & president of LTL carrier USF Corp. until it was sold to then-Yellow Roadway for $1.37 billion in early 2005.

Skinner, who served as Secretary of Transportation and White House Chief of Staff under President George H.W. Bush in the early 1990s, plans to remain as council to the national law firm of Greenberg Taureg, LLP and chair of Chicago Governmental Affairs Practice.

“The transportation industry is at a crossroads where key players are finding ways to more effectively compete and deliver value,” said Skinner. “I look forward to my active involvement with [Echo’s] board and the company.”
