Great Dane reorganizes leadership structure

Great Dane Trailers has reorganized its management structure on the heels of the retirement of its previous president Phill Pines. The company said the transition process includes adding key executive positions aimed at enhancing its leadership, business fundamentals and at accelerating future growth

Great Dane Trailers has reorganized its management structure on the heels of the retirement of its previous president Phill Pines. The company said the transition process includes adding key executive positions aimed at enhancing its leadership, business fundamentals and at accelerating future growth.

"Great Dane has a strong leadership team clearly focused on delivering superior value to our customers through the solid operation and strategic growth of the company," said Bill Crown, president &and CEO. "I'm pleased today to confirm the transition of responsibilities from retiring Great Dane President, Phill Pines, and to announce a new organizational structure that capitalizes on the strengths of the team, and reflects the continued growth and evolution of the Company."

The trailer maker said these organizational changes are now in effect:

  • Jim Pines, executive vp, sales & operations, will continue to oversee all Sales activities, including factory direct Sales, retail sales, aftermarket parts and service, and used trailers, as well as Great Dane's manufacturing operations. He will report directly to Bill Crown.
  • Rick Mullininx, a 28-year Great Dane veteran, has been promoted to the position of executive vp, engineering. In this expanded role, he will report directly to Bill Crown and oversee Great Dane's entire engineering and product development organization.
  • Dean Engelage joins Great Dane as executive vp, strategic planning and administration, after spending more than 15 years with CC Industries, Great Dane's parent. His responsibilities will include directing business development, marketing, management information systems, human resources, and Johnson Refrigerated Truck Bodies. He will report directly to Bill Crown.
  • Jim Petrarca, CFO, will continue to oversee all finance and accounting activities and will report directly to Bill Crown.

The trailer maker said these four senior executives, together with Sam Gupta, senior vp, manufacturing, and Bill Crown, will comprise an Executive Committee responsible to the company’s Board for all operations and planning .
