Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems has announced plans to further expand its Monterrey, Mexico facility by moving all production activities from its Iola, KS manufacturing facility. The company said Monterrey is “well suited for this expansion since it has been the primary brake actuator production facility since 2002 and recently expanded production by moving into a new 200,000-sq-ft facility”

Haldex noted the Monterrey plant is located in a region of increasing significance for the North American automotive industry and has recently undergone an investment program. “The investment in the Monterrey facility will significantly increase operational efficiencies and enable Haldex to better meet our North American commercial vehicle customer requirements,” said Jay Longbottom, executive vp and head of Commercial Vehicle Systems.

The relocation of production will occur during the third and fourth quarters of this year without service interruption, said Haldex. According to the company “this action results from the need to consolidate and improve activities that have been brought into Haldex through past acquisitions. Investing in one site utilizes capital and human resources more effectively

“We will continue to provide our customers with quality products and exceptional customer service,” noted Longbottom. Haldex added that customers will be notified regarding the transfer of production between facilities.
