The Heil Institute of Technology has released its 2207 course schedule for technicians who service Heil refuse collection vehicles. Most of the classes are being held at the Joseph F. Heil Jr. Education Center, adjacent to the Heil Environmental manufacturing plant in Ft. Payne, AL. To better serve customers in the western U.S., five classes will also be given in Phoenix.

The purpose of the classes is to provide a thorough understanding of the products so technicians can maintain them more effectively. Those taking classes in Ft. Payne will have an opportunity to tour the manufacturing facility and talk with some of the professionals who design and build the vehicles.

The hands-on courses now include a greater focus on the basics of preventing equipment failures, proper lubrication procedures and expected component life. In addition, there are more courses on how to use and troubleshoot the programmable logic controller (PLC) modules and other electronics used in many Heil vehicles.

The cost for each course is $500, which includes training aids and lunch. Students are responsible for travel, lodging and other meals. Technicians who complete a course are also eligible to earn continuing education units (CEUs).

Visit www.heil.com for a complete list of classes and dates, or call 800-251-7258.
