MCAA appoints government affairs director

Shawn J. Swearingen is the new government affairs director of the Messenger Courier Assn. of America (MCAA).

MCAA is the largest trade association representing the same-day, last-mile delivery industry.

Swearingen was most recently state policy manager for the Ambulatory Surgery Center Assn. He was also a legislative associate for an issues management firm in Arlington, VA.

A native of Oregon, Swearingen worked in a leadership office of the Oregon House of Representatives as a legislative assistant and policy analyst.

Swearingen will work with the chair of the association’s legislative committee, John Benko, on national and local legislative issues affecting businesses in the same-day, last-mile delivery industry.
