Prime Inc. independent contractor Siphiwe Baleka won two first-place spots in national swimming competitions – the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle -- at the 2011 U.S. Masters Swimming Spring Nationals in Mesa, AZ last month.
“I was just hoping to make it into the top ten,” said Baleka. “I still can’t believe I won two national championships.”
He also placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke, sixth in the 200-yard freestyle and 14th in the 50-yard butterfly.
Baleka was recently featured by Swimming World Magazine, which featured his video story as a competitive swimmer and truck driver.
“Wherever I am picking up or delivering a load, I use my GPS to find a YMCA,” said Baleka. “I just want to show other truck drivers that you can stay fit even while on the road and compete at a high level if you have the desire to do so.”
