A terrified pooch was trapped in a sinking semi truck for more than an hour before rescuers realized the dog was in the cab. The truck ran off the highway on I-70 in Lomo, CO, late Friday night, plunging into a river.
The female driver of the rig was heading eastbound on I-70 between Lomo and Fruita when she lost control of the truck, veered off the road and into the river, according to KKCO News.
The driver was rescued from the sinking rig and rushed to an area hospital, however, rescuers weren’t aware the dog was in the truck until more than an hour after the accident.
The rescue crew was finally alerted to the fact the dog was also in the rig and rushed to find the pup desperately treading water in the cab, coated in diesel fuel. Rescue workers scrubbed the fuel off the dog with soap and water and rushed it to a veterinarian for care.
