Seven semi trucks, along with a Washington State Patrol car, were involved in a multiple-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 90 near milepost 74, blocking the freeway for about seven hours Thursday, according to the state Dept. of Transportation.
Two rigs carried hazardous materials, WSDOT said, in a report in the Daily Record. The hazardous material was described at an explosive, water-reactive solid but was contained by crews from Kittitas County Fire District 7.
Three people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. WSDOT said due to the complexity of recovering the wrecked rigs and the Washington State Patrol’s investigation, the closure lasted several hours.
