Transportation experts will gather in Ann Arbor, MI, June 15-17 for a conference on efficient, safe and sustainable truck transportation systems. The three-day event, "Building the Policy Options Roadmap," is being hosted by the University of Michigan Research Institute and co-sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Con-way Freight and the American Trucking Assns.
"The intent of the conference is to explore international best practices in constructive regulation promoting heavy truck productivity, efficiency and safety," said John Woodrooffe, conference chair and director, UMTRI Transportation Safety Analysis Division.
Featured speakers will include Charles "Shorty" Whittington, chairman, ATA; Dan Murray, vp-research, ATRI; and Steve Williams, CEO, Maverick USA. The forum will include speakers from around the world offering their perspectives on the future of domestic and international freight and technical sessions on technology and operational practices that address productivity, the environment, safety and infrastructure.
