ABF promotes William Evans to vp of industrial relations

Wiliam David Evans has been appointed vp of industrial relations, effective June 1st, by ABF Freight System Inc. Evans is currently regional vp of operations, based in Kansas City, MO.

Evans will replace A.J. Phillips, who is retiring after 37 years with the company.

"David brings a broad and diverse base of experience into his new assignment, which will serve ABF and its customers well," said ABF president & COO Wes Kemp. "ABF enjoys an excellent rapport with its employees. David is the right choice to continue that tradition of quality performance."

Evans started with ABF in 1979 as a management trainee and has served in various capacities with the company, including operations supervisor, branch manager for various service centers and regional vp of sales. He's been in his current position since 1997.
