Bekins Holding Corp. has sold its Bekins Worldwide Solutions (BWS) logistics operation, which also operates under the trade name of HomeDirectUSA, to Transportation Resource Partners (TRP). TRP is a private equity firm focused on investments in transportation-related businesses and is an affiliate of Penske Corp.
TRP plans to maintain the HomeDirectUSA name and corporate headquarters in Hillside, IL, under the direction of CEO Brian Gallagher and his management team. HomeDirectUSA remain focused on providing logistics services and solutions, as well as customized transportation for business-to-business and the business-to-consumer market segments, TRP said.
Larry Marzullo, Bekins’ president & CEO, said the sale of HomeDirectUSA adds to the financial strength of both Bekins and its agent network. Bekins has been an agent-owned company since 2001, he noted. The sale also provides capital for expansion of information technology, marketing, agent recruiting and over-the-road equipment, he said.
