Borders Group Inc., a global retailer of books, music and movies operating through more than 1,200 Borders and Waldenbooks branded stores worldwide, named Duluth, GA-based LTL carrier Saia its top transportation provider for 2006.

The award is based on criteria measured by Borders, focusing on claims performance, on-time service, customer service, technology, economic value and innovation, said Fred Boehler, the company’s director of supply chain operations.

“Saia has been an integral solutions and service provider that has contributed significantly to the success of our company’s supply chain initiatives,” he said. “We work very closely with Saia’s operations, executive, and administrative teams to identify areas of opportunity to obtain the highest level of overall supply chain efficiency.”
