Cadec Global LLC, which provides mobile information systems for the transportation industry, has announced being granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its Split Screen Global Positioning (GPS) and Electronic Tachograph (ETOG) feature. The Cadec ETOG feature offers a combination of second-by-second speed, rpm and location data that can be viewed on a single graphical screen.
“Being able to visually link speed and rpm data with vehicle location in an intuitive manner is a unique feature of the Cadec system that helps [fleet] customers quickly investigate incidents,” said Bruce Olsen, chief technology advisor for Cadec.
“It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words and nothing in the industry gives fleet managers such a powerful picture as ETOG,” Tom Lemke, executive vp, added. “Managers with responsibilities for planning fleet operations now have the ultimate tool to visualize what is really going on with their vehicles. When it comes to accident investigation or public reports of speeding or other poor driving habits, managers now have precise and objective data to make informed decisions.”
