The national average price for a gallon of diesel dropped 5.4 cents to $2.425 for the week ending November 4, marking the sixth consecutive week of cuts, according to the Energy Information Administration

The national average price for a gallon of diesel dropped 5.4 cents to $2.425 for the week ending November 4, marking the sixth consecutive week of cuts, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Since the week ending October 23, diesel has dropped 73.2 cents from an all-time high of $3.157. Despite the price plummet, diesel remained 35.6 cents higher than the same period last year.

All regions posted a decline, but the largest was in the Rocky Mountain region as prices fell 12 cents to $2.471. Prices held the steadiest in New England, dropping only 2.8 cents to $2.591. New England also held the claim to being the most expensive region in which to purchase diesel. Conversely, the Lower Atlantic region was the cheapest in which to fill up, at $2.354 after a 4-cent fall.
