Diesel up one penny

The national average price for a gallon of diesel increased one cent to $2.499 for the week ending Feb. 5, according to the Energy Information Administration

The national average price for a gallon of diesel increased one cent to $2.499 for the week ending Feb. 5, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marks the third straight week of price increases.

The New England region was the only one that posted a decline in prices, down a modest 0.2 cents to $2.659. The Rocky Mountain region saw the largest spike, up 2.9 cents to $2.503. California is the most expensive region in which to refuel, with diesel prices at $2.739 after a 0.6-cent increase. Prices were most moderate in the Midwest region at $2.445, despite a 1.4-cent increase.
