C&C Trucking, Inc. has spec’d Eaton Vorad EVT-300 collision warning systems on its recent purchase of 75 International 9400 tractors, according to Eaton. The Eaton Vorad system comes with features such as forward collision warning, SmartCruise adaptive cruise control, and the BlindSpotter side sensor.

“We run lines from Georgia to New England in heavy traffic and our drivers are on the road a lot at night when you face the greatest risk of fatigue,” said Charlie Tapp, CEO of C&C Trucking. “The extra seconds provided by Vorad allow our drivers the reaction time needed to avoid accidents in these kind of driving conditions.”

Additionally, Tapp noted insurance savings as a factor in the purchase decision.

“We have a large deductible and with fewer accidents that would be an instant savings for us,” he added. “Our insurance company feels that by using the Vorad system we should see a significant reduction in rear collision and lane change accidents that will over time result in lower insurance rates.”
