    Ballard buys back DaimlerChrysler, Ford fuel cell projects

    Ballard Power Systems Inc. has reclaimed full ownership of fuel cell ventures launched in partnership with DaimlerChrysler AG and Ford Motor Co. Ballard will acquire the interests of DaimlerChrysler and Ford in Xcellsis GmbH and Ecostar Electric Drive Systems LLC. Xcellsis and Ecostar were formed as part of the vehicular fuel-cell alliance between Ballard, DaimlerChrysler and Ford in 1998. Ballard

    Ballard said reclaiming total ownership of these ventures will provide it with an expanded range of products, from components to power generators and vehicular fuel cell power trains – and will also make DaimlerChrysler and Ford completely reliant on Ballard as their exclusive fuel cell engine supplier.
