The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroad (BNSF) has expanded its guaranteed intermodal service to include two additional lanes between Northern California and Dallas/Fort Worth.

The guarantee is now available for service between Stockton, CA, and Dallas/Fort Worth and between Richmond, CA, and Dallas/Fort Worth, bringing BNSF's total of guaranteed intermodal lanes to 18.

BNSF began offering guaranteed intermodal service in 2000 to allow shippers to purchase, for a premium, a service guarantee for international, domestic and perishable intermodal shipments. For each load that does not meet the scheduled availability time for customer pick-up, BNSF offers a 100% refund.

The guarantee is designed to attract a greater share of truckload freight moving between Northern California and Texas, especially during the year-end holiday season when freight transportation demand spikes, said Ft. Worth-based BNSF.
