Con-Way Central Express (CCX), a regional subsidiary of LTL conglomerate Con-Way Transportation Services, plans to open two new service facilities near Springfield, MO and Chicago.

The Missouri facility, located on a 20-acre site in Marshfield, will provide next-day delivery service to most Midwest markets including Chicago, Memphis, Nashville and Indianapolis. CCX said it expects the 84-door freight assembly center to move 1.5-million lbs. of inbound and outbound freight per day, with the ability to handle more as future business volumes grow.

Ann Arbor, MI-based CCX added that its 90-door Chicago facility replaces an existing terminal. It provides 46 more dock doors than the previous facility and an additional 17,000 square feet of dock space. Kurt Goebel, a 17-year veteran with CCX, has been named service center manager of the new Springfield facility. Rich Sherrie, another CCX veteran with 14 years of service, will manage the Chicago facility.
