CSRI completes Simon purchase

Central Refrigerated Service Inc. (CSRI) has finalized its purchase of bankrupt Dick Simon Trucking for $50 million. Salt Lake City-based CSRI, owned by Texas-based regional LTL carrier Central Freight Lines, said it plans to sell off some of the assets it has bought from Dick Simon Trucking. Of the 2,300 tractors and 3,200 refrigerated trailers purchased, CSRI said it plans to put into operation
Central Refrigerated Service Inc. (CSRI) has finalized its purchase of bankrupt Dick Simon Trucking for $50 million.

Salt Lake City-based CSRI, owned by Texas-based regional LTL carrier Central Freight Lines, said it plans to sell off some of the assets it has bought from Dick Simon Trucking. Of the 2,300 tractors and 3,200 refrigerated trailers purchased, CSRI said it plans to put into operation between 1,400 to 1,500 tractors and 2,000 to 2,200 refrigerated trailers. CRSI's parent company, Central Freight Lines, is principally owned by Jerry Moyes, who is also chairman & president of Phoenix-based truckload carrier Swift Transportation. CSRI added that it expects to generate $200 million in revenues this year.
