Cummins Westport wins Big Blue order

Canada-based natural gas engine maker Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI) has sealed a deal with Big Blue Bus, the main transit operator in Santa Monica, CA, to equip 52 buses with its new C-Plus natural gas engine.

The engines will be installed in 40-ft, low-floor buses manufactured by New Flyer for delivery late this year. The order includes an option for an additional 20 units, CWI said. After delivery of this order, Big Blue Bus will have more than 48% of its fleet operating on lower-emissions fuels such as natural gas, the company said.
