    DaimlerChrysler Sells 1,900 Sprinters to FedEx Corp.

    DaimlerChrysler AG said FedEx Corp. has ordered 1,900 Freightliner Sprinter vans, a commercial delivery vehicle that will be introduced to the U.S. market March 22. The company didn't give a value for the contract, but the van's list price is $20,000, giving the purchase a potential value of $38 million.     DaimlerChrysler AG said FedEx Corp. has ordered 1,900 Freightliner Sprinter vans, a commercial delivery vehicle that will be introduced to the U.S. market March 22.

    The company didn't give a value for the contract, but the van's list price is $20,000, giving the purchase a potential value of $38 million. The first deliveries of Sprinters to FedEx will begin in August.

    DaimlerChrysler sold about 130,000 Sprinters worldwide in 2000, and the company said the van is the market leader in its segment in Europe. FedEx currently has a fleet of as many as 45,000 vehicles in the U.S.
