Ford Motor Co. has started construction on a $375 million expansion of a truck assembly plant in Norfolk, VA.
The plant opened in 1925 and last year produced approximately 240,000 F-Series light trucks. It presently employs over 2,300 people. Site preparation started at the beginning of the year and construction began on the 350,000-sq-ft building in April.
Equipment should be in place by June of 2002 to begin manufacturing of the prototype 2003 model Ford F-150 light trucks.
