Forward Air loses some ground

Though it remained profitable, specialized truckload carrier Forward Air watched its net income slip in the first quarter of 2002 compared to the same period last year.

Greenville, TN-based Forward Air, a trucking contractor to the air cargo industry, said its operating revenue for this quarter dropped to $52.9 million, compared with $60.7 million for the same period in 2001. Net income also declined, falling to $4.9 million from $6.2 million in the first quarter of last year.
