The nationwide average price of self-serve regular gasoline has flattened since mid-August, rising from $1.40 to $1.408 per gallon, according to data compiled by American Automobile Assn. (AAA) from the Oil Price Information Service.
AAA said the slight increase continues a six-month trend of fuel price stability that began in April, when the nationwide average gasoline price stabilized near $1.40 per gallon. The nationwide average price one year ago was $1.552 per gallon.
Drivers in the West are paying the highest at $1.527 while the Southeast and Southwest are paying the lowest at $1.328 and $1.37 respectively.
