Washington-based Instructional Technologies, Inc. (ITI), which offers the TREAD-1 computer-based, driver-training system, is releasing two new training modules: H.O.S. Regulations and Log Book Maintenance.

“The H.O.S. lesson will be installed on our iMac computers at existing clients’ training sites around the first of November," noted E. Bruce Weiss, ITI executive vp. "New clients will get their free iMac computer(s) with the H.O.S. lesson already included with the 31 other driver-training lessons, beginning on approximately November 7. By the first week of December, all TREAD-1 iMac systems will also be augmented with the new Log Book module."

“We designed the modules so that if FMCSA makes further amendments, we can update all of our clients’ lessons within one to two weeks," said CEO Jim Voorhees, who worked both with FMCSA and with training directors of several TREAD-1 clients.

According to Weiss, each interactive TREAD-1 lesson runs approximately 40 minutes, including the HOS and Log Book modules. The new modules are designed to train drivers on all the new HOS rules. They provide practical exercises in which drivers apply the new rules by filling out a log book based upon hypothetical situations.
