According to Steve Keate, president, truck group, International Truck and Engine, the 4200 delivers dramatically improved maneuverability – as a result of up to a 50 degree wheel cut – and reduces preventive maintenance costs and overall repair time by as much as 20 percent with the industry’s first multiplexed electrical system. This model is powered by the new International VT 365 diesel engine. With the VT 365, a platform is in place to meet society’s demand for clean air and customers’ demands for better fuel efficiency and improved engine responsiveness.
The engine features a four valve, six-liter displacement that includes a new Electro-Hydraulic Generation 2 (G2) fuel system, which works in tandem with the electronic variable response turbocharger (EVRT) to improve engine responsiveness and efficiency. These innovative features provide improved low end torque for faster acceleration, and industry leading fuel management for cleaner burning and maximized fuel economy.
The truck also features Intuitive Shift controllers, an International and Allison Transmission exclusive, which integrate the engine and the transmission to change transmission ratios in relation to driver input, vehicle load, and driving conditions.
