International taps Kapur to head truck group

International Truck and Engine Corp. has selected Ford Motor Co. executive Dee Kapur as president of its truck group, ending a four-month search for a new leader. Kapur replaces Steve Keate, who headed the group from 1999 until he left the company on April 23. Daniel C. Ustian, president and chief executive officer of parent company Navistar, assumed Keate's role on an interim basis. Kapur was also

Kapur replaces Steve Keate, who headed the group from 1999 until he left the company on April 23. Daniel C. Ustian, president and chief executive officer of parent company Navistar, assumed Keate's role on an interim basis.

Kapur was also was named a member of the company’s executive council, which has responsibility for the overall operating results and strategic direction of the company.

“Dee has accomplished much in his career in the automotive and truck markets and has developed expertise in the areas of product quality and reliability and value engineering,” Ustian said. “He has established a winning record of outstanding product performance and leadership in quality and reliability that fits well with the competencies of our team of leaders in the truck group.”

Kapur spent nearly 27 years with Ford, most recently as executive director, Ford Outfitters for Ford’s North American truck operations. He was responsible for all Ford SUVs, including the launch of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, and also ran Ford’s full size pick-up business.
