McLane opens new distribution center

The McLane Company, a grocery and food distributor based in Temple, TX, has opened a new distribution center in New Hampshire.

The 240,000-sq.-ft. center will undergo further improvements, with an additional 4,950-sq.ft. of space, more dock doors, and expansion of the parking lot, McLane said. The business will operate under the name McLane Northeast-Concord and will serve convenience stores and other food retail establishments in the New England area.

McLane Northeast-Concord employs more than 280 people, and is expected to have first year sales of approximately $400 million. Maura Weddle, vp-distribution, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, the company said.

McLane is an international distribution and logistics company that serves over 50,000 facilities worldwide. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Wal-Mart Stores, McLane Grocery Distribution operates 18 grocery divisions supplying convenience stores in the United States. McLane also operates three subsidiaries – McLane Foodservice, Inc., a service restaurant provider with 17 distribution centers in the U.S.; Merit Distribution Services, Inc., a trucking company; and Professional Datasolutions, Inc., a software development company located in Texas.
