The average price of diesel fuel fell $0.028 per gal. last week, about twice as much as it did the previous week, the Energy Information Administration reported.
The average national price stands at $1.486 per gallon, and the price dropped in every region. Despite the drop, the price is still significantly higher than the same time last year, when it was $1.419.
The fall was steepest in the Midwest, where diesel slipped to $1.511 from $1.561. It fell on the West Coast from $1.580 to $1.562. The Rocky Mountain area, where the price is highest, saw a fall of $0.014 to $1.608.
