New Penn Motor Express Inc. has announced employee donations that were matched by the company resulted in a total contribution of $125,000 to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. The donation will help to support the 353 families of firefighters whose lives were lost at the World Trade Center during the September 11 terrorist attacks.

A ceremony was recently held to present the contribution at New Penn's New York City terminal facility in Queens, NY. New Penn employees presented the contribution to Fire Department of New York Chief Harold Meyers and firefighters from the local Maspeth firehouse, which lost 19 men at the World Trade Center.

"Our employees were motivated by scenes of the New York firefighters helping to save thousands who might otherwise have been lost,” said New Penn president Kenneth F. Leedy. “It is with those thoughts in mind that our employees and our company made this contribution to help meet the needs of those most directly impacted by this tragedy."

New Penn, a subsidiary of Arnold Industries Inc., is a regional LTL carrier that provides next-day service through a network of 23 terminal facilities located in the Northeastern United States, Quebec, Canada and Puerto Rico.
