An International 9900ix Pro-Sleeper will transport the People’s Tree, while an International 8100 6x4 will accompany it and will carry 70 smaller trees for placement throughout Washington, DC.
After the Nov. 13 tree cutting, the caravan will stop at ten communities in Michigan while on its way to Washington. On December 11, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) will light the tree, which will be displayed five weeks during the holiday season.
After the holidays, the tree will be milled into lumber and used in a Habitat for Humanity home in Michigan and its seedlings will be planted throughout the state.
“We’re honored to participate,” said Steve Keate, president, truck group, International Truck and Engine Corp. “We are committed to delivering the People’s Tree to its destination on time and in excellent condition.”
