Contour Hardening Inc. (CH) unveiled an AC generator powered by a pickup truck’s transmission at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Assn. Spring Expo in Indianapolis. Dubbed Real Power (RP), the generator is designed to run heavy power tools, CH said.
RP generates a continuous 8,000- or 12,000-watt power stream, depending on the model installed. It works off the vehicle’s power take-off gear, found in the transmission. The generator mounts under the floor pan of the pickup truck between the vehicle’s frame rails without sacrificing ground clearance, the manufacturer said.
“It’s essentially limitless power, wherever you can drive,” said John Storm, CEO of CH.
