According to Ryder vp-maintenance James L. Cade, the company will begin outfitting its U.S. and Canada used truck centers with the Intra products starting this month.
Tukwila, WA-based Intra said its jump-start prevention kit is designed to ensure that sitting or dormant trucks have sufficient battery charge to start the vehicle. It combines a low-voltage disconnect (LVD) device with a high-current battery disconnect system.
The portable unit continually monitors current draw from the vehicle battery, and if battery voltage reaches a critical level, the battery is automatically disconnected, preserving the ability to start the vehicle, said Intra.
