Under the multi-year DCC contract, Miami-based Ryder said it will manage delivery of The Star from its printing plant to its delivery agents, providing a turnkey package that includes vehicles, drivers, fleet management, dock operations management and preventive and programmed maintenance services.

Ryder added that it is re-working the Star’s transportation and distribution system, through a combination of specially designed trucks and equipment, so it needs fewer vehicles. The new operating model is scheduled for implementation on October 1 of this year, Ryder said.
