Ryder System Inc. today announced it will equip 5,500 of its dedicated contract carriage (DCC) trucks and tractors with PrePass, giving its drivers the opportunity to bypass weigh stations.

PrePass is the nation's first commercially available, coast-to-coast, electronic pre-clearance weigh station bypass system. Its technology enables qualified fleet operators to comply electronically with state weight, safety and credential requirements while traveling at highway speeds.

Only fleet operators with proven safety records can qualify to participate in PrePass, and participation is voluntary, Ryder said.
