"Working with Ryder as a third-party logistics provider has enabled us to optimize our Austin materials management operation, simplifying the process while improving cycle times on critical time-sensitive parts," said Applied Materials executive vp Joseph R. Bronson. "Outsourcing this responsibility to Ryder also allows us greater flexibility to align our operations with the changing requirements of our customers."

Ryder's responsibilities include coordination and pickup of required components from suppliers, as well as warehousing and delivery of cleanroom-certified products directly into the air-lock of Applied Materials' cleanroom manufacturing facilities.

Ryder also is responsible for management of Applied Materials' 288,000-sq.-ft. parts staging facility.
