Stevens Transport, a refrigerated truckload carrier, is implementing Logistics.com’s OptiYield Fuel & Route system to help trim its operational costs. Stevens expects to save approximately $.0005 per mile or $550 annually per tractor, said Matt Welding, director of quality.

“With approximately 1,400 company tractors, this translates into an approximate annual savings of $800,000, not to mention the savings our over 290 independent contractors should directly benefit from,” Welding said.

The company also expects to realize a 100% return on this software investment in two to three months.

Logistics.com Inc., said its OptiYield Fuel &Route package is designed to consider multiple factors such as fuel prices, driver amenities, out-of-route miles, state taxes, miles on toll roads and on-time deliveries when determining the optimal route. It not only recommends where to buy fuel but also how much to buy at each stop.

The software also considers the price of fuel in the final delivery area so that trucks will not be stranded in high-cost areas with low fuel levels. Also, with fuel stops ranked according to amenities like shower availability, food quality and service facility types, drivers are assured that all of their preferences will be taken into consideration.
